Series I'm Never Gonna Finish

So I've been procrastinating a lot this weekend.  I'm supposed to be editing right now. HA!

I spent a lot of time on youtube watching a ton of different BookTubers, nd I saw a lot of them had videos posted about series they are never going to finish. So I thought I would share with you the series that I have started and do not plan on ever finishing.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but obviously they aren't all that important if I can't remember them lol

Before I start, I would just like to say that I could probably be swayed on some of these. But this is me attempting to cut down my TBR,

Up first is Lauren Oliver's Delirium trilogy. I read the first book, and I honestly thought it was just meh. Having seen so many mixed feelings about the next two... I don't think I'll ever go back to it. And clearly, I have a book buying problem.

The Worldwalker trilogy by Josephine Angelini. If you somehow missed that I dislike this book and why, I'll leave a link to my review for it on goodreads right here.  I was so mad while reading this book. I hate to say this because it's horrible, but I can't see myself picking up another book from this author any time soon.

Okay. To be fair, I have read the entire original trilogy. And yes, they are kind of cute and fast reads. But I have a fundamental issue with the entire competition. So I do not plan on reading either of the two new sequels.

Whatever this one is called...I'll just leave my review for it right over here. I ended up DNF'ing about halfway through (I think). I couldn't stand the MC.

Okay everyone. Don't kill me.  This is probably one of my most swayable of series here. I have read up to City of Glass.  But there are soooo many books in the Shadowhunter world. I've gotten kind of disenchanted with them all. Maybe some day, but probably not.

Another one! Blasphemous!  As you can see I have a signed copy of The Rose Society. The Young Elites was one of my first reviews up here.  To summarize, ehh?  I wasn't enthralled, despite loving Marie Lu's writing.  I resigned myself to read the rest of the series and judge it as a whole. But I don't know if I'll ever get to it with my massive TBR.

And lastly.. Dune! I have read the first five books of this series (I amazingly only own the first three. This was when I still actually used libraries). There is only one book left in the main series, but I've heard it's... ... weird/erotic/idek.  So I never picked it up.

Which books series do you plan on never finishing?

  1. I feel the same way about Delirium and ended up selling my copy about a year ago. I like the Selection books, probably because they're fun fast paced reads that take me out of the real world for a bit. And I absolutely love shadow hunter books but I get why they might seem overwhelming. Since you did say you were swappable with these... I'd recommend giving another one of the series a try. Clockwork Angel is a completely different book than City of Bones and you don't have to read one to understand the other, so maybe that's a good place to return to? Just a suggestion, haha! Great post, though!

    1. Reading over my grammar I meant: *swayable , not swappable

  2. Aww this list makes me sad, though if you didn't love Delirium, it's probably best to not keep reading because that was by far the best book, I think. It's too bad you didn't like The Young Elites, and I definitely think you should continue! I also really liked Trial By Fire, and I liked Firewalker less. Thank you for sharing!

    1. I mean, I didn't dislike Young Elites. I just didn't particularly like it. I might try to give it a shot, but for now I'm far too busy!

  3. There are too many series out there...it stresses out my reader self haha. I completely agree with The Selection. I didn't think they were good...at all? I'm kind of alone on that one though. The Shadowhunter series is so long! I understand why you're discouraged.

  4. The only series I've read on this list is The Mortal Instruments, which I loved for the first three installments and then was kind of 'meh' about. I can totally understand not wanting to finish a series if you're not sold on the first book though - series require so much investment!
