Interview with Myself!!

So this is a thing, right?  Rachel over at Beauty and the Bookshelf came up with this whole blogging extravaganza to help us get back into the groove of blogging.  I know I personally have been finding it difficult to find topics to post on.  So this is a thing!  And the first post is an interview with yourself.

Strange, right?  Well... sure.

What is your name?
I'm Christina

 What is your quest?
I seek the holy grail! err... Let's start that again.  I'm a scientist fed up with the science business.  Currently, I'm an aspiring author working on multiple projects, the most completed of which you can actually read the first part of on Wattpad (I really only just got the cojones to put it up there. Feedback is welcome).

What is your favorite color?! (I couldn't resist)
Purple!  You may have figured that one out by the blog theme.

So you write, eh?
Not very well... Though I have improved a lot over the past year.  You should read my first novel it was terrible!

What is your favorite under-appreciated animal?
I love frogs. They're awesome.

Why frogs?
I dunno. When I was growing up we had a pool.  And this will totally sound gross but so many times I would find that the frogs had laid their eggs in the pool, so we would have tadpoles and then thousands of baby froggies in the pool.  Of course, the water had chlorine in it, so they wouldn't survive well.  I often would go and fish the babies out to save them. I guess this dodesn't answer the question, aside from that I've always had a soft spot for them.

You say you're in your twenties?
That is true at this time.

So how old are you anyway?
That's very rude.  But if you must know I will be 29 in April.

That's coming up soon
Yes it is.

Doing anything special?
I've been considering taking the week off to work on writing.  Other than that, nope.

So, read any good books lately?
I'm so glad you asked! I really enjoyed Rebel of the Sands.  Other new favorites of mine include the Falling Kingdoms series and of course The Orphan Queen series

Do you read anything that isn't YA?
Of course! I try to read some classics.  I will also pick up the occasional adult sci-fi or fantasy book.  And I love poetry.  But I do NOT review poetry.

Well I'm exhausted and can't think of questions so I'ma wrappin' it up.  Hope you enjoyed the random.

  1. HELLO! I love that you're writing! It's SO COOL! I'm attempting it too, but I'm not really getting anywhere. SIGH.

I'm OBSESSED WITH REBEL SANDS TOO! It was such a good book, and I might've told Alwyn that we need a 10,000 page sequel! YAY!

  2. Hello Christina! I'm already loving this blogging challenge.

Yay for being a writer! I'm a writer as well. I currently have two YA manuscripts and I'm working on a MG (A.K.A. the book of my heart). I'm so much more passionate about this one than the rest. I think the other two were starters preparing me to write the book of my heart. This current work is definitely the one that I will seek publication. So cool! We could be writing buddies! I haven't had the guts to post anything to Wattpad yet. Though, I'll check yours out. Maybe that will spark some courage for me.

Oh my goodness, I can appreciate that you love frogs, but I absolutely have a phobia. LOL. I must have blocked out some horribly traumatizing memory having to do with frogs because I have an irrational fear. Like, to the point if I spot one too close or GOD FORBID IT TOUCHES ME, I faint. It's bad. But from your childhood pool, I can see how you grew close to them. That story also shows me how nurturing and caring you are. How nice that those tadpoles/frogs had you around. :-)

    HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!

I haven't read those books. I'm not a fan of YA fantasy - too many tropes.

What's your favorite classic? I love adult sci-fi! THE MARTIAN by Andy Weir is my absolute favorite. I highly suggest it, though will warn that it's on the technical side (i.e. heavy on Science and Math), but that's one of the many reasons why I love it - it's realistic. Realistic fiction is almost contradictory. LOL.

Great interview! Thanks for sharing so much of yourself.

    1. The Martian is totally on my TBR. My mom and sister both read it and loved it. I think my favorite classic would probably be Brave New World. But I also love Jane Austen. Have you read The Day of the Triffids? It's a classic post-apocalyptic.

  3. I loved Rebel of the Sands! I read classics too, but I feel like I should read more of them... My YA/Classic ratio is like 10/1 or something :'(
I'll have to check out your writing on Wattpad when I get the time! (Real life sucks)

Thanks for the fun interview, Christina :)

  4. I love that you're thinking about taking time off of work to WRITE. That's awesome. I really need to sit down and write, too. I've been procrastinating. Also, I really want to read Rebel of the Sands!

    Here is my interview!

  5. Happy early birthday Christina. I'm also a spring baby (but May!) so wheeee! Good luck with your writing. I find it hard to find time to write, too, so I do a lot of 'thinking' for a while and then writing. It's nice to meet you - have a wonderful week!

  7. Such a fun interview! :) I have my birthday coming up in April as well, though I will be "only" 25 this year (am I supposed to start to feel like an adult at this point?) Good luck with your writing!

  8. Hi Christina, happy early birthday!! I love that you're taking time off to write.

I adored Rebel of the Sands and I'm actually just starting The Mirror King. I've heard a lot of good things, I'm excited to see how it goes.

    Great intervew!

  9. Hi Christina!

Taking time off to work on writing sounds like a great way to treat yourself for your birthday! Itʻs always nice to be able to really focus on the things youʻre passionate about.

Weʻre pretty big fans of frogs in my family. For us, itʻs cause my grandpa would call us ʻfrogheadʻ so every time we see a frog now (which is pretty rare), itʻs as if heʻs there to say hi or to visit us.

I canʻt wait to read Rebel of the Sands! Iʻve only heard great things about it so far.

  10. Holy grail, ha! I really need to read THE ORPHAN QUEEN and FALLING KINGDOMS. Especially the latter. I've been seeing that series all over Instagram and I want to read it so bad. My aunt and uncle used to have a hot tub that didn't work and sat there unused for years, and I used to find tadpoles in it. They were such cool things to see! But I was horrible and one time I put them in a puddle to play with...and then I couldn't find them. Thanks for joining in!

  11. Hiii Christina! That's so awesome, you're a scientist, you're in a field I'm kind of interested in right now! But it's not so awesome you're fed up with it though... :/
It's pretty cool you've actually written a novel too - I've started and stopped with so many different ideas haha xD
I think I'm the same though, with reading. I love YA - but if a book from another genre appeals to me, I'll also read it xD
