Sunday Discussion: On Binge-Reading Series

Wow, it's been a while since I put up a discussion post.  Been way too busy.  But an idea came to me just now so I wanted to talk about it...

It has to do with binge-reading series.
If you have followed my blog for a while, you know that I am an audible member.  I listen to audiobooks while I'm at work.  Many days, I'm not spoken to a lot so I can get away with listening to a book in a day or two pretty easily.  Of course, I'm not talking about audiobooks today.  Audio just happens to be the form of my last obsession.

So if you follow my twitter feed, you may have noticed things like this:

Yea.... I have been known to binge-read series in the past.  I'm not afraid to say that I was late to the Hunger Games and the Divergent fandoms.  I read them both when all the books were out (sidenote: my keyboard keeps missing keystrokes. I might need to get a portable one for my laptop. Sorry I'm random lol).

So, since all the books were out, I was able to happily binge everything (the entire series) in a weekend.  I did the same with a few other series as well.  Now I just binged the Falling Kingdoms series in four days.  Four books that I listened to in four days.  That's honestly quite a lot since each book was 13 hours long.  And now, here I am left waiting for the fifth book in the series.  It doesn't come out until late this year (December I think? Kill me now).  I have never had an issue with binge-reading before, because I don't think I've come across something like this.

What I'm curious about is whether you binge-read series that are partially published (should I have waited???) or if you wait until they're done.  Do you not binge-read at all?

In other news, soon to come will be a review about Frozen Tides, the latest installment in the series.

  1. I always struggle to binge read! I mean to, but then I get distracted with something. I have such a short attention span, I swear. Often I feel I need more variation in my reading so I'm inclined to break up reading a series with one or two different, unrelated books in between. But I think it's always nice to be up to date with a series and have the excitement of waiting with everyone else for the release of the next book! I'm currently going semi-insane waiting for Sarah J. Maas' next Throne of Glass novel - but it's sort of fun . . . in a torturous way. The dilemmas!
