Waiting on Wednesday (51) Carve the Mark

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to highlight upcoming releases we're excited about.

This week, I'm excited about...

Carve the Mark (Untitled Duology, #1)
Title: Carve the Mark
Author: Veronica Roth
Pages: 528
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
Release Date: January 17, 2017

On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not — their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world?

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power — something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.

Akos is from the peace-loving nation of Thuve, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Though protected by his unusual currentgift, once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive — no matter what the cost. When Akos is thrust into Cyra’s world, the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. They must decide to help each other to survive — or to destroy one another.

Honestly, I added this to my TBR the day it was announced. I didn't even realize a title or cover were announced until last Saturday (I've been off in la la land lol).

What are you waiting on?

  6. Great minds think alike- this is my WOW today too! I wasn't a huge fan of the Divergent series when I tried to reread it, and I hated Allegiant the first time through, but I'm curious about this one. The cover is absolutely gorgeous for sure!

  7. Yaaaaaassssssss, I can't wait to read this book as well! The cover is great but I also loooove YA sci-fi. Hopefully this new series isn't as hard on the heart as the Divergent series (specifically, Allegiant). D: I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!

    Have a fabulous week. :)

    Check out my WoW post!

  8. I love this cover so much... but I've never read VR and I'm not sure if I want to start with this. I think I'm still in the uncertain basket about this, but good pick!
